Haunting Activity: Amelie is the tragic ghost said to haunt this establishment now known for its Cajun cuisine. A petite woman often seen wearing a long, rose-colored gown, Amelie lost her husband while young. Not long after, she went to the well to wash her face and drowned. Ruled a suicide by the Catholic Church, she wasn't allowed to be buried in the church cemetery. It's thought that this sadness and tragic ending is why Amelie still roams the house and garden paths. Many times she's a helpful spirit, helping find lost items and laying out ladies' lingerie, and she even awakened the family once when the house caught fire. But Amelie has her other side as well and will frequently spatter wax on the piano after it's been used to play hymns.
Activity Reported By: Property owners, employees, visitors and guests
History: Built in 1880 of Louisiana red cypress hauled from the nearby Vermilion Bayou, the main house has four guests bedrooms.
