Haunting Activity: Once an orphanage, a fire claimed the lives of at least 18 African American orphans on this site. Many employees and guests hear the children playing when the hotel experiences low occupancy, usually in the summer, and it's said that rooms 111, 208 and 211 experience the most activity.

History: Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 22-room Andrew Jackson Hotel is located on the site of the famous courthouse where Major General Andrew Jackson was indicted for contempt of court and charged with obstruction of justice. A major general in the War of 1812, Jackson became a national hero when he defeated the British at New Orleans.
