James T. Stapleton Riverboat

Location: Bladon Springs

County: Choctaw

Property Type:

Haunting Activity: This, the most elegant vessel to ever sail on Alabama’s rivers was reported destroyed by its own captain. The boat was in danger of being taken by Stapleton’s creditors and he committed suicide. After that, no one would remain a crew member for long. They all reported a shadowy figure on the ship and all the rats aboard fled to shore. Two weeks after Stapleton’s death, at the exact moment, the boiler exploded killing the new captain and injuring twenty five others.
