What do I need to become a ghost hunter?

By Donna L. Marsh, APS Founder

While I know that you're referring to things like training and equipment, in my opinion the most important thing a good ghost hunter can have is patience.

Spirits don’t appear on command. It takes a great deal of energy for them to present themselves in a form we can view and interact with, and we have to wait for that precise moment when all things come together. It’s not frequent, and it can’t be forced.

Unless you’re extraordinarily fortunate, you’ll go on numerous hunts, investigations and outings before you see or experience anything. You’ll take hundreds of pictures of which only 10% will contain anomalies. Of that 10%, you’ll be able to explain 99% of them. It’s those few photos and experiences you just can’t explain that you patiently await.

So, if you want to be a ghost hunter, the one thing you’ll definitely need is patience.
