January 2004

Introduction

Wintry greetings! I write the second edition of the APS Spirit on a cold day with snow flurries flying in the air. This makes me wonder what effect the weather may have on the spirits and ghost hunting, so be watching the site for an article on that very subject. It’ll be debuting soon.

We’re looking for people to help us grow, and we welcome announcements, questions, queries, articles, true experiences, etc. Submissions may be sent to the editor at Editor@apsociety.com.

Announcements

The Nashville (Grand) Chapter of the APS held its first membership meeting on January 10, 2004. Several of us gathered to discuss what we’d like to see the APS accomplish. We made a list of several possible hunts and/or investigations we’d like to conduct during the year, and we’re going to see about them lined up. February’s will be in Chattanooga. For more information be sure to check out our Yahoo group.

Business/membership meetings will be held quarterly, so the next one will be in April. More information will be announced in the Yahoo group closer to time.

Spotlight

This month’s spotlight is on the Resources area of our Website. There you’ll find articles, links to other sites, paranormal news, a Glossaryand more, including a section for Frequently Asked Questionssuch as the one that follows.

Question

Each month we’ll answer a question, so if you have one you’d like to see here, just drop us a line at Editor@apsociety.com. This month’s question is answered by APS member Karen Smith-Carr.

What are Shadow People?

Shadow people, what are they? I wish I could come right out and tell you a definitive answer, but one has yet to be presented. Perhaps you have seen them while doing mundane things about your own home. You catch a fleeting glimpse from the corner of your eye. You believe that it was a dark shape of a human being. A large section of the population has experienced just that same thing.

Most times they present as a human shape often caught in one's peripheral vision. Dark, with no distinct shape, these figures are both frightening and puzzling. Some people have seen them with glowing eyes of red or green. They are usually only visible for a few moments. But what are they? I have found several plausible schools of thought. They are most commonly thought to be ghostly manifestations of a benign sort. I have read it described as like a weak television signal. If the signal was a bit stronger, we'd get a better picture. This is why I account for them being benign. They are like weak imprints left behind.

Another theory is that they are extra-dimensional. Perhaps we are being granted a brief view into another realm beyond our own. Think of it like watching one television channel and another one bleeds through. We are just seeing what is transpiring in another dimension or "channel".

I, too, have had these experiences in my own home. While doing ordinary, everyday things, I have seen the shape of a man pass right by me. It is not a shadow cast upon a wall, for the darkness appears in the center of rooms. I am usually alone at the time. There is also the shape of a woman and small child spotted by my husband and myself.

We at APS are dedicated to investigating such paranormal phenomena. We hope to bring you stronger evidence and answers! Our research is ongoing, every single day. Whether ghosts or other dimensions, we want to present you with the truth as we find it.

If you would like to discuss this issue, please join us in our Yahoo group. All legitimate discussion is welcome.

And Finally...

“People are generally better persuaded by the reasons which they have themselves discovered than by those which have come in to the mind of others.” -- Blaise Pascal, 17th century mathematician and religious scholar.

Everyone should study and research each paranormal topic for themselves and not just take the word of another. It takes various schools of thought to truly further research, and that’s exactly what we’d like to do at the APS.

The APS Spirit is the official newsletter of the Adsagsona Paranormal Society and is open to submissions.
