Introduction

Here it is – the third edition of the APS Spirit. This one hasn’t been as easy to write, so I had to ask myself why, and I do believe it’s because I just don’t have enough time to devote to this group. Okay, that’s not true. I’ve got plenty of time, but where does it all go? So this leads me to a challenge – be sure to check the Spotlight area below.

In the meantime, we’re looking for people to help us grow, and we welcome announcements, questions, queries, articles, true experiences, etc. Submissions may be sent to the editor at Editor@apsociety.com.

Announcements

This month’s hunt is in Chattanooga this Saturday. For more information drop an e-mail to the editor at Editor@apsociety.com. We’ll share the details with you.

Our next business/membership meeting will be in April, and we’ll announce further details in our Yahoo group, so be sure to check their often for information or you might miss out. Also in April is the New Age Expo at the Fairgrounds, and the APS founder will be speaking there. More information will be forthcoming, but make sure to attend so that you can stop by and say hello.

Spotlight

This month’s spotlight is on the APS Articles . We’re currently featuring a fascinating article on “Sleep Paralysis: The Old Hag Syndrome” by one of our members. Other articles will soon be showing up, and we’re especially interested in publishing well-thought out and presented articles by other APS members and friends.

So here’s your challenge. Tell us what you think of time – is it relative or subjective, can you travel between time periods, what ever time related subject you’d like to share an opinion about. Send your article, paragraph, tidbit in to us at Editor@apsociety.com. We’ll feature the best in a future column.

Question

Each month we’ll answer a question, so if you have one you’d like to see here, just drop us a line at Editor@apsociety.com. Here is this month's question.

How can I tell if I'm living in a haunted house?

Many people live in a so-called "haunted" house and never realize it. In a typical haunting, the occupants of a home might experience any of the following paranormal events in the course of their day. These events are normally minor, however, and therefore will often go unnoticed.

However, each of the above occurrences can also have a perfectly normal, everyday explanation, and that’s why we encourage everyone that feels they may be experiencing a haunting to request an investigation from a reputable, educated organization dedicated to accurately investigating and documenting the paranormal.

We at APS are just such an organization. We hope to bring you stronger evidence and answers! Our research is ongoing, every single day. Whether ghosts or other dimensions, we want to present you with the truth as we find it.

And Finally...

“We -– or our primitive forefathers -– once believed that the return of the dead, unseen forces, and secret injurious powers were realities, and were convinced that they actually happened. Nowadays we no longer believe in them, we have surmounted those modes of thought; but we do not feel quite sure of our new beliefs, and the old ones still exist within us ready to seize upon any confirmation.” –- Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) physiologist, medical doctor, psychologist and father of psychoanalysis; generally recognized as one of the most influential and authoritative thinkers of the twentieth century.

Here’s one to contemplate. Why do we no longer believe in these things? Has there been proof they do not exist, or is it simply because we’ve been taught not to believe? If the old beliefs are going away because we’ve been taught that you can’t believe in something you can’t see or explain, then how does that explain in the belief in God or a Higher Power?

It’s certainly something to ponder, and it’s also something to investigate. If, as a culture, we aren’t sure of these “new beliefs” then we need to further investigate the old ones.

With that, happy hunting.
