Introduction

Welcome to the inaugural issue of the APS Spirit, the official newsletter of the Adsagsona Paranormal Society. While this issue will be short, it will be historical since it is the first of what we hope will be a long line of informative and helpful paranormal newsletters.

We’re looking for people to help us grow, and we welcome announcements, questions, queries, articles, true experiences, etc. Submissions may be sent to the editor at Editor@apsociety.com.

Announcements

The Nashville (Grand) Chapter of the APS will hold its first membership meeting in January 2004. We’ll be detailing our Society’s goals and membership, so please plan to attend.

Final date and location are still being determined so please keep your eyes on our Website and Yahoo group for the official announcement.

Spotlight

Our Website is brand new, so there’s a lot to be discovered and much more to come. While you’re waiting for more goodies, a timely treat on the site is our APS E-cards. There’s something for every one and every occasion, and we’ll be periodically debuting additions to our own, exclusive, line of Spirited Greetings, so visit often and send lots of cards.

By sending these cards to your friends and family, you’ll also be introducing the Adsagsona Paranormal Society to the world, and growth is imperative to our organization and our research. Take advantage of this free service and help us out at the same time.

Question

Each month we’ll answer a question, so if you have one you’d like to see here, just drop us a line at Editor@apsociety.com. Here’s this month’s question.

What is a ghost?

When most people think of a ghost, they picture the ghoulish demons of Hollywood lore. In truth, a ghost is simply a disembodied spirit and not frightening at all -- merely misunderstood.

A spirit is an energy form; and not all spirits that dwell among us are ghosts, since many spirits have never lived in the human realm but have existed in other forms, such as guardian angels, etc.

When spirits do inhabit a human body, they become family members and friends, and we learn their personalities. It's what endears each individual to another. Upon the death of our loved ones, these spirits do not cease to exist, as physics teaches us that energy is never truly expended but only transferred to another form. And the personality that our loved one had as a living being is also the personality that our loved one has as a ghost. At her death, a loving, caring mother may remain to watch over her family rather than passing over into the spirit realm.

Some spirits don't choose to remain behind but are trapped because they don't realize that death has occurred. This happens in the case of a sudden and/or violent death and frequently explains ghosts in places like accident sites, crime scenes and battlefields.

We walk among spirits and ghosts daily, although we usually never realize it, and it's only rarely that we're made aware of their presence. Realizing this, we should be grateful for their brief appearances and contact rather than frightened.

If you would like to discuss this issue, please join us in our Yahoo group. All legitimate discussion is welcome.

And Finally...

Blaise Pascal was a seventeenth century mathematician. A natural genius, he devoted more time to his religious exercises than his mathematical ones and, so, is usually more known for his philosophical quotes. One of my favorites is, “It is not our task to secure the triumph of truth, but merely to fight on its behalf.”

And so is born the Adsagsona Paranormal Society, fighting on behalf of the spirits who most would choose to ignore.

The APS Spirit is the official newsletter of the Adsagsona Paranormal Society and is open to submissions. We welcome announcements, questions, queries, articles, true experiences, etc. Submissions may be sent to the editor at Editor@apsociety.com. If you would like to view the current newsletter online, visit http://www.apsociety.com/newsletter.

This newsletter is sent only to subscribers. If you feel that you have received this newsletter in error, or would like to be removed from our mailing list, please send an e-mail to newsletter-unsubscribe@apsociety.com.
